Ann Schwartz
Program Manager, Pilot Office of the National Strategic Computing Reserve (NSCR)
Dr. Ann Schwartz joins the NITRD NCO as the inaugural Program Manager for the Pilot Office of the National Strategic Computing Reserve (NSCR). As described in the blueprint report of the National Science and Technology Council, the NSCR is envisioned as a coalition of resource providers that can be called up in times of urgent needs to provide critical cyberinfrastructure capabilities and services to address emergencies, from pandemics to earthquakes to other natural or man-made disasters. As Program Manager, Dr. Schwartz will be responsible for the development and implementation of a plan that encompasses the structures, policies, and processes for the NSCR Program Office.
Dr. Schwartz previously served as the Director of the Computing Community Consortium (CCC) at the Computing Research Association (CRA) since 2011. There she led the community organization in developing visioning activities, writing white papers and reports, and communicating with policymakers to ensure that computing research continued to be high-impact and align with pressing national and global challenges.
Prior to her work at CRA, she was an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow at the National Science Foundation working on education and workforce development issues for the CISE Directorate, including the CS10K project. Previously, Dr. Schwartz taught computer science and mathematics at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.
Dr. Schwartz received her undergraduate degree from Cornell University in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering, her Master’s Degree from George Washington University and her PhD from George Mason University.
