REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) ACTION PLAN

On behalf of the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), the NITRD NCO requests input from all interested parties on the Development of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Plan (“Plan”). This Plan, as directed by a Presidential Executive Order on January 23, 2025, will define the priority policy actions needed to sustain and enhance America’s AI dominance, and to ensure that unnecessarily burdensome requirements do not hamper private sector AI innovation.

NATIONAL PRIVACY RESEARCH STRATEGY

This strategy establishes objectives and priorities for federally funded privacy research, provides a framework for coordinating privacy research and development, and encourages multidisciplinary research that recognizes privacy needs of individuals and society and the responsibilities of the government.

INNOVATING THE DATA ECOSYSTEM: AN UPDATE OF THE FEDERAL BIG DATA RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIC PLAN

This plan updates the vision and strategies on the research and development needs for big data laid out in the 2016 Strategic Plan through the six strategies areas to enhance data value and reusability and responsiveness to federal policies on data sharing and management.

NATIONAL SPECTRUM RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Spectrum – the invisible radio frequencies that wireless signals travel over – is among our nation’s most important national resources, supporting America’s economy, technological advances, and security. To ensure that all of America can share in the benefits of this resource, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy is releasing the National Spectrum Research and Development (R&D) Plan.

The FY25 NITRD and AI Dashboards are now available

The NITRD Dashboard is a graphical interface for displaying NITRD budget data with drill-downs to NITRD Program Component Areas (PCAs) and major subject areas for federal IT R&D, by year and agency. It also illustrates federal agency NITRD budget crosscuts as reported in the NITRD Supplement to the President’s Budget. You may click here to view the dashboard.

The Artificial Intelligence R&D Investments Fiscal Year 2019 – Fiscal Year 2025 Dashboard illustrates the federal budget for nondefense AI R&D investments across several fiscal years. It provides both an overall budget rollup, as well as breakdowns of investments by agency and by NITRD Program Component Areas (PCAs), which are major subject areas for federal IT R&D.
