A searchable directory of AI-relevant Federal grant programs. Grant programs can be filtered by the offering department or agency, the particular AI strategy topic that is covered, and whether it is considered “core AI”, which advances the foundations of AI, or “other AI”, which refers to use-inspired AI research in fields such as cybersecurity or materials discovery.
Testbeds provide environments to support development of real-world applications of AI that are robust and trustworthy. They embody key mechanisms to support research progress by creating benchmarking standards, enabling reproducibility testing, and building communities of discovery and practice. This document is a supplement to the President’s FY2022 Budget Request to Congress. Following Congressional mandate, the Supplement incorporates budgetary and programmatic information for member agencies of the NITRD Program and also, for the first time, of the National Artificial Intelligence Initiative. This report covers FY2020 actual investments, FY2021 enacted, and FY2022 requested funding levels by agency and Program Component Area (PCA) for all NITRD R&D programs, as well as describing the key R&D programs and coordination activities planned for FY2022 by the Federal agencies participating in NITRD. This Supplement also reports specific agency investments for FYs 2020–2022 for advanced wireless communications and for AI and the National AI Research Institutes. This document provides FY2022 implementation plans for the 2019 Federal Cybersecurity Research and Development Strategic Plan (Plan), developed by the Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD) Program’s Cyber Security and Information Assurance (CSIA) Interagency Working Group (IWG).
